SBDC Sm Business Week

Small Business Week for the Pikes Peak Region is May 5-9, 2019, and each day includes workshops or events designed to educate, celebrate, and champion local small businesses.

“Small businesses are the creators of community and the number one producers for job growth,” said Aikta Marcoulier, executive director of the Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center (SBDC). “We are excited to celebrate our seventh year anniversary of this amazing week of events with our partner the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado.”

The week begins with an edible competition plus live music and entertainment at the fourth annual Food Truck Cook-Off on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Those who pre-register can start enjoying samples and voting at 11 a.m. Nearly 40 trucks serving food, drinks and desserts will be set up at the Broadmoor World Arena. Honors are also up for grabs: Best Food Truck: Judge’s Choice and Best Food Truck: People’s Choice. Winners will be announced at 3:15 p.m.

Pre-registration for the Food Truck Cook-Off closes at 3 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019. Walk-ins on the day of the event up to 3,000 people will be accepted with tickets available at the door for $25 per person.

Several workshops are planned for the week, covering topics such as marketing, cybersecurity and small business trends.

The week concludes with the Small Business Celebration and Awards Dinner 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. Small businesses will be recognized with five categories: Small Business Person of the Year, Small Business Champion of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Veteran Small Business Owner of the Year, and Family Owned Business of the Year.
