November 2, 2020 – El Paso County Department of Public Works has contracted with Avery Asphalt for the 2020 Pavement Crack Sealing Contract.

Beginning Monday, November 2, 6:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Avert Asphalt will begin crack sealing operations on Las Vegas Street.

Las Vegas St will be open to traffic while work is being conducted. The work is expected to take four working days to complete, weather and resources permitting.

The Public Works Department uses a variety of maintenance treatments to preserve and repair roads. Crack Seal is the process of sealing cracks in sealed roads with a hot polymer/rubberized bitumen sealant. This maintenance strategy prevents moisture and debris from getting into cracks as well as reduces water damage to pavement structure.

Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes during construction to avoid delays. Drivers who need to use the route should plan for added travel time through this area.

Safety Tips for Drivers:

• Reduce speeds in work zone
• Watch for workers, equipment, signs and barricades
• Don’t tailgate
• Keep headlights on during overnight & early morning hours

El Paso County wishes to thank drivers in advance for their cooperation. Night work will accelerate the safe and efficient completion of this project. Funding is provided through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority.
