Updates: Due to recent weather, the Academy Boulevard night work will begin on Tuesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 7.

El Paso County, CO, August 24, 2023 – El Paso County Department of Public Works has contracted with A-1 Chip Seal for the 2023 Pavement Preservation Project. A-1 Chip Seal will be conducting fog seal operations on Academy Boulevard the evening of September 5 through Thursday, September 7, weather permitting.

Night work operations are planned to take place from approximately 9:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. Lane closures will be in place during the listed work hours. Access to ramps and side streets will be maintained for the duration of the project. Please check the below link (Streets Resurfacing Map) for any further updates on this planned work as work schedules can change for multiple reasons such as weather and other project requirements.

Work will include:

  • Sweeping excess chips from roadway
  • Fog sealing the new chip seal
  • Replacing the pavement markings

Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds and to watch for workers, equipment, signs, and barricades. El Paso County wishes to thank drivers in advance for their cooperation. Night work will accelerate the safe and efficient completion of this project. Funding is provided through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA).
