March 23, 2026 – El Paso County is continuing Phase 1 construction activities along Beacon Lite Road. Drivers should expect changing traffic conditions and potential delays in the project area between Wakonda Way and Bricker Road as crews complete trench excavation, utility relocations, and storm sewer installations.

Traffic control measures will be adjusted as work progresses to foster the safe movement of traffic through the area. Drivers should follow posted signs and use extra caution near crews and equipment. Schedules are weather-dependent and may shift.

Work planned through April:

During this period, crews will focus on digging trenches, relocating utilities, and installing storm sewers while completing the east half of the roadway alignment to subgrade elevation. Once the east half is completed, traffic will be shifted, and Phase 1 work will begin on the west half of the roadway.

Suggested alternate route:

To help reduce congestion and avoid delays, drivers may use the suggested alternate route shown on the map: Wakonda Way, Aries Drive, Indi Drive, and Palmer Divide Road. Follow posted signs.

Large trucks and vehicles making deliveries that are not part of the construction project are especially encouraged to use the suggested alternate route to improve safety near the work zone.
