December 18, 2025 – El Paso County’s Facilities & Strategic Infrastructure Management Department is adding a motorcycle lane at both the entry and exit points of the Sahwatch and Costilla parking garages. This change will address long-standing safety issues with traditional gate detection systems.
These new motorcycle lanes eliminate the need to scan a ticket or activate the gate and will be available at no cost to riders. Lanes will be clearly striped, signed, and available 24/7, allowing motorcyclists to move through at low speed and in single file, staying fully separate from general vehicle queuing.
