October 8, 2024 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners has appointed Commissioner Carrie Geitner as the new chair and Commissioner Cami Bremer as vice chair for the remainder of 2024. This leadership change follows Bremer’s announcement that she will transition into her new role as CEO of Pikes Peak United Way in early 2025, allowing for a smooth shift in responsibilities.
Commissioner Geitner and Commissioner Bremer have a well-established working relationship, having collaborated on numerous county initiatives over the years. Their leadership has been pivotal in maintaining stability, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring that the county continues to meet the needs of its residents. This transition enables them to build on that foundation, ensuring continuity during this period of change.
“We are fortunate to have such capable leadership in place,” said County Administrator Bret Waters. “Commissioner Geitner brings a wealth of experience as our new chair, and Commissioner Bremer’s ongoing service as vice chair will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition. Together, they’ll continue to steer the county forward, keeping our focus on serving the people of El Paso County.”
Chair Geitner expressed her excitement about stepping into the new role. “It’s an honor to take on this responsibility at such a crucial time,” Geitner said. “I’m eager to continue working with Cami and the rest of the Board to ensure we maintain the high level of service our residents expect.”
Vice Chair Bremer added, “Having had the honor of serving as chair, I’m confident the vice chair role will allow me to continue contributing to our county’s success and stability while I take on new responsibilities as the CEO of Pikes Peak United Way. Carrie and I have always worked closely together, and I’m excited to support her as we move forward.”
Commissioner Geitner and Commissioner Bremer will continue serving as chair and vice chair, respectively, until early 2025, when commissioners elect leadership and adopt organizational resolutions for 2025 at the January 14, 2025, meeting of the Board of County Commissioners.
