September 1, 2021 – Parks are better when citizens have a voice in their planning and development. This is why El Paso County is proud to announce the launch of EPCountyParkPlan.com, an online forum allowing residents the ability to complete a survey and provide input for the 2021 El Paso County Parks Master Plan.
EPCountyParkPlan.com is being used by El Paso County Parks Staff and GreenPlay, LLC, a parks and recreation management consulting firm, to comprehensively address the needs of parks, trails, open space, and recreational services in order to update the County Parks Master Plan. The Parks Master Plan is a guiding document that works alongside other County plans to maximize outdoor recreation opportunities such as parks, trails, and the long-term protection of open space.
The website gives participants the opportunity to suggest ideas for parks, share perspectives, and provide recommendations on topics relevant to the plan. All posted comments and ideas will be reviewed by GreenPlay to develop an understanding of where parks currently stand and create a future vision of El Paso County recreational areas.
In addition to the survey, some of the topics currently being posed to residents on the site include:
- What is your favorite El Paso Count recreation program or park activity?
- What are the greatest strength or weakness of El Paso County parks and recreation system?
In addition to this public forum, a needs assessment survey is being conducted to better understand residents’ usage and needs for the park and recreation system. Your answers to this survey will help guide how lands around El Paso are preserved and enjoyed for over the next 5 – 10 years.
Visit EPCountyParkPlan.com to learn about the Park Master Plan and stay up to date with the different phases of the project.
