December 28, 2022 – Set out to improve convenience and implement innovative technology, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has done just that having set a record of 100,000 transactions this year with the Colorado MVExpress self-service kiosk for vehicle registration renewals.

“Vehicle registration renewal kiosks are an innovative solution providing accessible, customer-centric motor vehicle services for our citizens,” says Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. “We are not your typical motor vehicle office; we are proud to be an organization that continues to revolutionize the way that our citizens experience government.”

First implemented in 2017, residents of El Paso County can utilize one of the 11 kiosks located throughout the county or the other 41 kiosk locations throughout the state. Vehicle registration renewal kiosks feature a simple three-step process touch screen for users to type in their license plate number or scan the bar code on the side of their renewal card. Customers are then given the chance to review their vehicle record and make a payment for taxes and fees by credit/debit card, cash, or check. Once the transaction is complete, the kiosk prints out a new registration, the license plate year tab, and a receipt for the payment.

“With Chuck’s innovative approach to the kiosks; citizens of El Paso County are now being served seven days a week and extended hours in convenient locations,” says Drew Nicholson, President/COO, Intellectual Technology Inc. “This is government meeting customers where they want to be met!”

These Colorado MVExpress Kiosks offer the ability to also check the status of your vehicle title, obtain a duplicate registration card or obtain replacement tabs. Motor vehicle customers are encouraged to ‘Skip the trip’ to our office by utilizing a self-service kiosk or renew vehicles registration online, by mail, or by calling the Motor Vehicle Office at (719) 520-6240.
