Nature Adventures: Munching Mantids

Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required.

2’s & 3’s Outdoors: Turtle Time

Yes, over the years we’ve spotted lightning bugs in the wetlands near Fountain Creek Nature Center! Learn about the lives of fireflies, make a firefly craft and hike to find these rare wonders in the park. $4/member, $5/nonmember. Prepaid registration required.

Nature Camp: Wild Child Adventures (6th-8th grades)

Monday – Friday, July 11 – 15, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This camp for middle schoolers offers a more mature, relaxed experiences. Wilderness survival lessons, team building challenges, fishing, longer hikes, and nature ID lessons take campers to the next level as they grow up with nature. $140/member, $150/nonmember. Prepaid registration required.

Active Adults: Native Pollinator Lecture and Hike

Saturday, July 23, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Guest speaker David Woolly will regale us with a lesson on the lesser known but critically important pollinators that we can be on the lookout for and lend a helping hand to. Then we’ll walk along the nature trail to find some pollinators and other bugs in action. $4/member, $5/nonmember. Prepaid registration required.

Insect Songs

Saturday, July 30, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The summer air is filled with the songs of insects. Field crickets, tree crickets, cicadas, and katydids all add to the cacophony of a summer afternoon. Come learn about their calls and try to catch them in the act. Craft, hike, and games included. $4/member, $5/nonmember. Prepaid registration required.
