The interim preventative maintenance on Elbert Bridge scheduled to begin on Monday, December 16, has been delayed due to weather forecasted for the area. Weather permitting, the project will begin on Tuesday, December 17.
The maintenance will include mill and overlay work on the bridge to repair the asphalt surface until permanent repairs can be made at a later date. Elbert Road will be closed south of Murphy Road and north of Latigo Road during this time. Drivers will be detoured to Eastonville Road for both northbound and southbound traffic. The County will also perform traffic control during this project. The work is expected to take a couple of days to complete.
Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds and watch for workers, equipment, signs and barricades. El Paso County road maintenance workers wish to thank drivers in advance for their cooperation.
Colorado is prone to unpredictable weather during the winter months. El Paso County will monitor the weather leading up to the project date. If inclement weather impedes the project, the work may be rescheduled for a later date.
