Nature’s Classroom- Incredible Insects

Tuesday, May 2, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Puppet show, guided hike and catch/release of live insects provide opportunities to learn about life cycles and the importance of insects. Geared toward grades 1-3.

Ute History Education Program

Saturday, May 13, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Visit Bear Creek Nature Center between the hours of 10am and 1pm to investigate how the Ute Indians have used science, technology, engineering and math to survive and thrive in the Rocky Mountains. Travel along an easy trail participating in hands-on activities investigating how the Ute people have solved problems in the past and present. Use technology and art to make a take-home craft.

Recommended ages 6+. $5 per person or $20 for a family of 4 or more

May Forest Bathing Walk

Saturday, May 20, 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Experience the therapeutic practice of Shinrinyoku and awaken your senses with a slow, mindful walk through the woods and a beautiful tea ceremony.

Nature’s Classroom- Colorado Wildlife Detectives

Tuesday, May 23, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Students play detective in a “who-dunnit?” scenario, and hone their detective skills on a hike through different habitats, searching for signs of life and learning about food webs. Geared towards grades 3-5. Children grades 3+ can be dropped off.

Night Sky/Milky Way Photography Workshops at the Paint Mines

Monday, May 22, 9:00 p.m. – Tuesday, May 23, 7:00 a.m.

Guided overnight photography workshops led by Mike Pach of 3 Peaks Photography & Design will include how to photograph the Milky Way and the stars as points of light, how to photograph star trails, light painting techniques, how to post-process your images in Photoshop and Lightroom.
