July 21, 2025 – El Paso County is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2025 Citizen College, taking place October 13–18. This week-long program, offered free of charge to residents and County employees, provides an in-depth look at how County government operates and serves the community. Participants will gain valuable insight into the structure, functions, and services provided by various County departments and elected offices.

Citizen College is designed to inform and empower participants through direct interaction with County leaders, tours of public facilities, and presentations on key functions such as budgeting, land use, public safety, and the justice system.

2025 Citizen College Session Schedule:

  • Session 1 – Monday, October 13: County Government, Budget & Land Use
  • Session 2 – Tuesday, October 14: Property Taxes, Elections, and DMV Services
  • Session 3 – Wednesday, October 15: Emergency Management & Public Works
  • Session 4 – Thursday, October 16: 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office
  • Session 5 – Friday, October 17: El Paso County Combined Courts
  • Session 6 – Saturday, October 18: Sheriff’s Office, County Jail, Coroner’s Office followed by County Parks presentation and graduation at the Fountain Creek Nature Center
