All El Paso County Motor Vehicle Offices will be upgrading to the new State DRIVES computer system to improve customer service August 1 – 5.

The following services will not be available statewide:

August 1-5 All Colorado title and registration services, including motor vehicle registration renewal*,
vehicle titling, and ownership transfers

*Vehicle registration renewal is available online and at kiosks

August 2-5 All Driver’s License Services

This closure will allow the state of Colorado to replace the Colorado State Titling and Registration System (CSTARS), originally installed between 1983 and 1986, with a new system, Colorado DRIVES, which will allow for better county-to-county integration, faster transaction processing and additional online services.

New online services, which will be available August 6, 2018 at https://mydmv.colorado.gov include:

  • Improved online vehicle registration renewal
  • Out of state emissions extension
  • Emissions waiver application
  • Generate prior receipts
  • Duplicate registration receipt request
  • 2 percent rental upload spreadsheet fee estimator
  • Document uploading
  • Personalized plate request
  • Change of address
  • New registration

Individuals with expiring driver’s license, identification card or motor vehicle registration will have to wait till offices re-open on August 6, 2018. El Paso County Motor Vehicle Offices will have extended hours August 6-10, 2018, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday, August 11, 2018 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Union Town Center office, only.
