December 13, 2023 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department’s Technical Committee. Applications for the open position are due by December 29, 2023.
PPRBD is currently seeking one member who represents a Master Plumber.
The Technical Committee reviews, interprets, and recommends minor variance requests from the Pikes Peak Regional Building Code including, but not limited to, the Sign Code, and the Elevator and Escalator Safety Code.
The committee is comprised of an architect licensed by the State of Colorado, a professional engineer licensed by the State of Colorado (civil – structural), a building contractor (A, B or C license), a mechanical contractor (A license), an electrical contractor licensed by the State of Colorado, a master plumber licensed by the State of Colorado, and a building contractor (D, E, or subcontractor). The committee consists of seven members appointed by the El Paso County Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the Colorado Springs City Council, acting as individual bodies, but in agreement, for a three-year term. Members can serve two terms consecutively. Upon completion, members serve as alternate members for additional two years.
The Technical Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9:00am at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center, 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The meetings are hybrid meetings, which allows in person or virtual attendance. Notwithstanding, committee members are required to attend in person with very limited exceptions thereto.
