July 8, 2024 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department’s Licensing Committee. Applications for the open position are due by July 22, 2024.
The PPRBD is currently seeking one member who represents the building industry as an architect.
The Licensing Committee reviews licensing of applicants for licenses and the performance of work required under the Pikes Peak Regional Building Code and adopted primary and secondary codes by reference, including, but not limited to the Elevator and Escalator Safety Code. Electrical and plumbing contractors are licensed by the State of Colorado but must also register with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department to perform work within the jurisdictions. The committee also hears complaints against contractors.
The Licensing Committee is comprised of an architect licensed by the State of Colorado, a professional engineer licensed by the State of Colorado, a building contractor (A license), a building or mechanical contractor, a building contractor (C license), an officer of a financial institution, and a citizen-at-large.
The Licensing Committee meets the second Thursday of each month at the Pikes Peak Regional Development Center, 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The meetings are hybrid meetings, which allows in person or virtual attendance. Please note, the Building Commission does not encourage virtual participation, the exception of virtual appearance be only considered for occasional emergencies, health related / resulting absences, or scheduling conflicts. Attendance in person is expected and appreciated.
