October 16, 2024 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on Pikes Peak Area Council of Government – Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging. Applications for the open position are due by November 1, 2024.

The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments serves as the Area Agency on Aging for El Paso, Park and Teller counties and provides programs and services for older adults (60 and over) and their caregivers. The primary goal is to help older people live independently in their own homes. Funding for services comes through the federal Older Americans Act and the State of Colorado. A person must be 60 years of age or older to be eligible for a service provided by the Older Americans Act. Some exceptions apply for specific cases.

The purpose of the Commission is to advise and recommend to the PPACG Board of Directors and PPACG staff action on matters regarding the development of an area-wide system of advocacy and policy recommendations for older persons to enable them to maintain as much independence as possible.

The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. Meetings are held at 14 S. Chestnut St.
