May 14, 2025 – The El Paso County Division of Veterans Services announced Thomas Miller as the 2024 El Paso County Veteran of the Year. Mr. Miller was recognized at the Military Affairs Council Armed Forces Luncheon on May 14, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Thomas Miller is a retired U.S. military Veteran and Colorado native whose commitment to service has extended far beyond his time in uniform. He is best known for his hands-on support of formerly homeless Veterans, personally delivering furniture and essentials to help restore stability and dignity in their lives. He also actively coordinates crisis interventions and emergency responses, ensuring fellow Veterans receive the support they need during their most vulnerable moments.
In addition to his direct outreach, Mr. Miller is deeply involved in patriotic community events, Veteran ceremonies, and educational initiatives, consistently demonstrating reliability, humility, and unwavering dedication to the Veteran community.
“I’m deeply honored to be named the 2024 El Paso County Veteran of the Year,” said Thomas Miller. “Service didn’t end when I retired—it just changed form. Every Veteran deserves to feel seen, supported, and respected, and I’m grateful to contribute however I can.”
Since its inception in 2017, the El Paso County Veteran of the Year Program has honored Veterans who have demonstrated exceptional military service and meaningful contributions to the local Veteran community.
“El Paso County is proud to recognize the Veterans who continue to serve with honor long after their military careers,” said Vernon Stewart, El Paso County Community Resources Executive Director. “Mr. Miller’s compassion and commitment make him a shining example of what this award represents. We are proud to honor him as the 2024 Veteran of the Year.”
