June 24, 2025 – El Paso County held a ceremonial swearing-in for Lauren Nelson, who has been appointed to serve as the newest member of the El Paso County Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Lauren Nelson was appointed through the statutory vacancy committee process to fill the District 5 seat previously held by Cami Bremer.
A resident of Colorado Springs and graduate of District 11 schools, Commissioner Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Colorado State University. She brings a background in product development, having worked as a Food Scientist for major food corporations. In 2021, she was elected to the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education, where she has served as Treasurer, reflecting her dedication to public education and community service.
Commissioner Nelson also serves on the board of Quaker Ridge Camp & Conference Center and plays the violin with the Pikes Peak Philharmonic. She is committed to advocating for individual freedom and responsibility, maintaining a limited government respectful of private property, strengthening fiscal responsibility, and ensuring government transparency and accountability.
