October 15, 2025 – El Paso County Department of Public Works has selected contractor Capital Paving & Construction, Englewood, CO, for the Beacon Lite Road Project. Construction is set to begin on or around Monday, October 20.

The improvements consist of upgrading Beacon Lite Road from gravel to asphalt and improving curves, grades, and drainage. The project will deliver a smoother, safer corridor with improved stormwater control and easier winter maintenance. The project is expected to be completed by late 2026, weather dependent.

Traffic impacts will begin immediately after the project starts. Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds and to watch for workers, equipment, signs, and barricades. El Paso County wishes to thank drivers in advance for their cooperation. Lane closures will accelerate the safe and efficient completion of this project.

Traffic impacts include:

  • Beginning October 20, there will be ongoing lane closures on Beacon Lite Road for erosion control and other construction activities.

  • Improving grades and curves.
  • Increased drainage capacity.
  • Road surface improvements from gravel to asphalt.

The project carries an estimated cost of $8.2 million and is funded by Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority.
