Weekly Road & Construction Update

May 20, 2026 – El Paso County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is providing the following road and construction updates for the week.

Pedestrian Intersection Safety Improvements Project – Cody Drive & Spur Drive Pedestrian Improvement Project

  • Beginning Wednesday, May 27, construction will begin at the intersection of Cody Drive and Spur Drive in Security-Widefield as part of a project that includes installing a new pedestrian crossing, concrete improvements, and minor signal work. Construction is expected to last 3–4 weeks, weather permitting. Cody Drive will be fully closed at the intersection during construction, with a detour in place along Willard Drive.

Safety Reminders:

  • Please reduce speeds in and around work zone.
  • Watch for workers, equipment, signs, and barricades.
