The upcoming Cyber Security Summit for Small Businesses includes a broad variety of workshops and speakers, consultation opportunities and exhibitors so business owners and others can expand their knowledge and apply it to make improvements. The Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center is hosting the event.

The summit will present small businesses knowledge in different sessions that can be immediately implemented. Cyber security consultants will be available for free on-on-one consulting throughout the day. El Paso County Commissioner Stan VanderWerf will be speaking, as well as Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers. Margie Graves, Federal Deputy Chief Information Officer of the United States, and Daniel Eliot, director of the National Cyber Security Alliance, are the keynote speakers.

The all-day event begins at 7:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at The Pinery at the Hill, 775 W Bijou St. in Colorado Springs.

“You don’t have to be a cybersecurity expert to be cyber secure. This is an event you can’t miss,” said Aikta Marcoulier, Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center Executive Director. “As a small business owner, you need to be aware of the cyber regulations in Colorado and nationally, resources available to help you, and learn enough to know how to recover from a hack because you will be hacked, you just don’t know when.”

The complete agenda and registration details are online at www.pikespeaksbdc.org/summit. The summit is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, with a happy hour to follow. The cost to attend the event is $20 and includes a continental breakfast, plated lunch, and happy hour hors d’oeuvres; a full day of workshops; two keynote speakers; access to cybersecurity consultants for one-on-one consulting throughout the day; and Cyber for Small Business exhibitors. The cost for exhibitors is $300. Scholarships are available for this event. Contact Aikta Marcoulier for information at aiktamarcoulier@elpasoco.com.
