The Communications Department provides key services to County staff, volunteers, community partners, and citizens. Their responsibilities and services include:

  • Delivering timely and accurate information and administrative support related to the duties of Elected Offices and Officials.
  • Supporting the County’s various public service and outreach initiatives.
  • Creating and maintaining multi-media educational materials and publications.
  • Handling media relations and website resources.
  • Processing Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) requests related to County operations.
  • Organizing special events and forums to engage citizens in County government.

The Courier

The Courier is an award-winning newsletter produced by the El Paso County Department of Communications. Each issue features insight into El Paso County and the services the county provides to the community. Launched in January 2023, this newsletter—available in digital and print formats—aims to educate and engage new and existing residents on county services, events, and core values. El Paso County serves over 755,000 residents with diverse backgrounds, needs, and understanding of county-provided services. The Courier is developed to appeal to long-term residents as well as newcomers from other states and countries who have been attracted to the region’s varied landscapes and opportunities.
