May 30, 2025 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners has received and formally acknowledges the resignation of Commissioner Cami Bremer effective June 10. The Board extends its sincere appreciation for her years of dedicated public service and lasting impact on the residents of El Paso County.

“Serving El Paso County as a commissioner has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Bremer said. “I am incredibly grateful to the residents of District 5 and our entire community for placing their trust in me. As I begin this next chapter at Pikes Peak United Way, I look forward to continuing my service to this region in a new way—leading efforts to support youth success and family stability across the Pikes Peak area.”

Carrie Geitner, Chair of the Board for the El Paso County Commissioners, thanked Bremer for her service and the collaborative transition process. “Cami has been a faithful representative for District 5, and we are grateful for all of her contributions to our county” Geitner said. “On behalf of the Board of County Commissioners and County staff, I also want to thank the team at Pikes Peak United Way for facilitating a smooth transition that ensured no disruption in County business while allowing Cami to step fully into her new role.”

In the interim, Colorado statute requires the political party vacancy committee affiliated with the resigning commissioner to appoint a replacement within 10 days of the vacancy. Should the vacancy committee be unable to make an appointment within that timeframe, the Governor is authorized to fill the vacancy within 15 days of the vacancy being created.

The individual appointed through this process will serve until the November 2025 general election, when Republican and unaffiliated voters will have the opportunity to elect a commissioner to continue representing the district in a vacancy election.

Commissioner Bremer’s final day in office will be June 10, during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. She is expected to deliver remarks from the dais, reflecting on her time in office, expressing gratitude to the community, and thanking the colleagues, staff, and residents she has had the honor to serve.

El Paso County will share additional details as they become available.
