May 13, 2025 – El Paso County Executive Director of Community Resources Vernon Stewart was named Professional of the Year by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Southern Colorado (PACCSoCo) at its annual gala on May 10, 2025, at the Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs.
Stewart was recognized for his leadership in the newly established Department of Community Resources, community involvement, and role in improving access to programs and services across the region. The award honors his commitment to excellence, responsiveness to community needs, and contributions toward elevating the Filipino community through professional service.
Born in the Philippines to a Filipina mother and a U.S. Navy father, Stewart brings a community-first mindset to his work. He reflects the values at the heart of the El Paso County Strategic Plan: service-focused, accountable, transparent, collaborative, and trustworthy.
