August 26, 2025 – The El Paso County Coroner, Dr. Emily Russell-Kinsley; the Fremont County Coroner, Randy Keller; and participating staff are working tirelessly to examine the remains recovered from Davis Mortuary. We are also investigating ongoing deaths in Pueblo County and continuing to provide the same standard of investigation to our respective counties.
We have been able to apply lessons learned from the Return to Nature investigation to collect the same high-quality information gathered during that incident. In addition, we are providing Pueblo County citizens with the same caliber of death investigations we provide for our own constituents.
Unfortunately, this will be a multi-month process. Any information about the Davis Mortuary case will be released only by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and not from our offices, which is consistent with our day-to-day procedures. We are grateful for support from our partnering agencies as well as the public during this operation.
