November 17, 2025 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners seeks a community-minded citizen volunteer to serve on the El Paso County Community Corrections Board (CCB). Applications are due by December 11, 2025.
Make a Difference – Volunteer as a Mental Health Professional on the CCB
Are you a mental health professional passionate about helping your community? The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking a volunteer mental health expert to join the CCB and help create safer, healthier outcomes for individuals involved in the justice system.
Your Voice Matters
As a CCB volunteer, you’ll make a real impact by:
- Reviewing referrals and determining which offenders can safely be placed in the community.
- Establishing conditions under which an offender may participate in a program.
- Setting and enforcing standards for service providers that operate local community corrections facilities.
- Monitoring program compliance with state and local requirements.
- Advising the El Paso County Board of Commissioners and the 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority on community corrections matters.
The board brings together local leaders—from law enforcement and the courts to public defenders, alongside community members and one mental health professional. Your perspective ensures mental health is a central part of decision-making.
Time Commitment:
- Attend monthly board meetings (third Wednesday, 12:15 p.m.)—in person or virtually.
- Independently review and ballot weekly on approximately 25 offender cases per week, requiring roughly four to six hours.
Bring your expertise and compassion to the table. Help shape a justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation, safety, and community well-being. Your contribution can make a lasting difference.
