The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has completed the ballot count for the 2019 Coordinated Election. With 178,494 votes accepted, El Paso County had a 38.48% turnout rate of all registered voters and 42.8% turnout of active voters. Final Unofficial Results can be viewed here.

“I am proud of our award-winning elections team for once again delivering a secure and transparent election for the citizens of El Paso County. The team continues to streamline processes, resulting in what I think, is one of the best Election Departments in the country,” said Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman.

With seven Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPCs) open on Election Day, there was minimal-to-no wait for in-person voters. There are ballots that remain outstanding for Military and Overseas voters as well as signature discrepancies. These voters have up to eight days after the election (November 13) to ‘cure’ the signatures.

The canvass board – made up of a team of bipartisan election judges – will review the total unofficial results Friday, November 15, which will then initiate the risk limiting audit. The risk limiting audit (RLA) ensures a high level of confidence testing for election results. Required by Section 1-7-515(2)(a) of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the RLA is coordinated by the Secretary of State’s Office, and provides strong statistical evidence that the election outcome is correct.

The County must submit results for the first round of the audit to the Colorado Secretary of State. The election will be certified no later than November 27.
