August 3, 2020 – The following Special Events are being hosted by El Paso County Community Services during the months of August and September. The public can register for any of the following classes and workshops here.


Flow Patterns and Boat Races

When: Saturday, August 15, 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
Where: Rainbow Falls Historic Site
Details: Why do some objects float and others sink? Construct and decorate a boat from different materials. Race your boat down the stream and pick the best spot along the starting points to launch your boat, based on what you learn about the water flow patterns and velocity. For kids ages 8-12, $5 per person, pre-registration required.

Rainbow Falls Clean-Up Day

When: Saturday, August 22, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Where: Rainbow Falls Historic Site
Details: Spend a morning giving back to your community by helping clean up Rainbow Falls. Be sure to dress appropriately, bring a water bottle and work gloves if you have them. All are welcome: call 719-520-6977 to RSVP or register online.

Yoga at Rainbow Falls

When: Saturday, September 5, 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Where: Rainbow Falls Historic Site
Details: Grab your mat and enjoy this special yoga class at Rainbow Falls with the calming sounds of the waterfall in the background. Instruction provided by City of Manitou Springs Pool & Fitness Center. $10, pre-registration required due to limited class space.

Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day

When: Saturday, September 19, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Where: Fox Run Regional Park
Details: Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day will include a skills clinic, guided trail rides, trail etiquette information, and a free raffle. All ages are welcome: from tots on stride bikes to teens. Riders just need a working bike and helmet to participate. Pre-Registration required and participants are asked to wear face masks. Free!

First Aid, CPR, AED Classes

When: Wednesday, September 30, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Fountain Creek Nature Center
Details: This American Red Cross course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants. This blended learning course includes an online portion that you complete on your own and an instructor-led classroom skill session. Participants must be 16 years or older: $75: pre-registration required.
