El Paso County administrative and elected administrative offices and affiliated agencies, including El Paso County Public Health, the Pikes Peak Workforce Center, CSU Extension, the offices of the 4th Judicial District Attorney, El Paso County Public Trustee and El Paso County Combined Courts will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, in observance of Veterans Day.

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s North Branch Office in Union Town Center (Union and Research Parkway) will be open for its regular Saturday hours (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) on Nov. 10, 2018. It is the only motor vehicle office in Colorado that offers regular Saturday hours.

The 11th day of the 11th month of the year was initially designated as Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Nov. 11 was designated as Veterans Day in 1954 to remember those who served our country in uniform.

The Board of El Paso County Commissioners ceremonially recognized Veterans Day with the presentation of a Proclamation honoring veterans at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. More than 98,000 veterans call the Pikes Peak region home and all residents of El Paso County are urged to join in offering their thanks and appreciation for their service.
