Nature Adventures: Sticks & Stones Build a Home
Thursday, January 6 and Friday, January 7, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings 2 and over and adults. Prepaid registration required.
2s & 3s Outdoors: Snow Bunnies
Thursday, January 13 and Friday, January 14, 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
Explore nature with your 2 or 3 year-old through interactive activities, a story, and a short hike. $3 per person including siblings 2 and over and adults. Prepaid registration required.
Morning Hike & Campfire
Tuesday, January 4, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Start the new year off right by joining us for a short winter hike, followed by a campfire, songs, stories, and of course s’mores! Geared towards 6 years and up. $4 per member / $5 per nonmember. Prepaid reservations required.
Winter Bird Count
Saturday, January 8, 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
All levels of birders are invited to help us observe and record the bird species in Fountain Creek Regional Park. $5 donation per person to help support our bird feeder program! Preregistration is required and space is limited.
Frozen Fauna
Saturday, January 15, 10:00 a.m. – Noon
Where do the turtles and frogs go? How do birds not freeze their feet off? Is a deer’s coat really THAT warm? Animals have a variety of ways to deal with the hardships of winter and some are downright amazing! Learn about all the diverse ways creatures survive winter and join us for a hike to see some in action! $4 per member / $5 per nonmember. Prepaid reservations required.
Jr. Bird Club
Friday, January 22, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Nature lovers ages 8 to 15 are invited to spend time together outdoors and practice their birding skills! In this meeting, we will learn about corvids. Drop off your child for a lesson, craft, and birding walk! $10 per meeting. Prepaid registration required.
Live Birds of Prey
Saturday, January 29, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Learn about hawks, owls, eagles, falcons, and vultures through a live birds of prey program with Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center! The presentation includes two different birds of prey and a discussion of adaptations, predator/prey relationships, natural history, and personal stories of the birds presented. You’ll also hear about the work the Center does to rehabilitate sick, injured, and orphaned birds of prey. $4 per member/$5 per nonmember. Prepaid registration required.
