Marc Schendzielos has been named the 2017 Parks Volunteer of the Year.
The El Paso County Parks Advisory Board gave him the great honor last week.
“Marc is an extremely dedicated volunteer for the Bear Creek Dog Park and is heavily involved with the Friends of Bear Creek Dog Park group. He removes excess dog waste, picks up loose trash and empties trash cans on a daily basis. Marc helped with every special event held in 2017 to include April Stools and Ghouls and Stools,” said Kyle Melvin, Central District Maintenance Supervisor.
Melvin went on to say, “I have asked Marc to help with countless projects and tasks over the past three years and cannot remember a single time he has said no. He is always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that Bear Creek Dog Park is one of the best dog parks in the country. We are lucky to have Marc on our team and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award.”
Schendzielos, a Colorado Springs native, said, “I enjoy being involved in the dog park. I do it for the people who appreciate the park and their dogs.”
Schendzielos is currently Chair of the Friends of Bear Creek Dog Park. For more information on Friends groups contact Dana Nordstrom at (719) 520-6375.
