August 12, 2021 – Fountain Creek Nature Center announces their calendar of events for August. The classes and programs are listed below by date. ONLINE REGISTRATION is available at https://communityservices.elpasoco.com/nature-centers/.
All programs require pre-registration. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is extremely limited and programs are subject to change. Please call the nature center or check website for current status.
2s & 3s Outdoors: Weeds & Seeds
Thursday, September 2 and Friday, September 3, 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Explore nature with your 2 or 3 year-old through interactive activities, a story, and a short hike. $3 per person including siblings 2 and over and adults. Prepaid registration required.
Nature Adventures: Flopping Fish
Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings 2 and over and adults. Prepaid registration required.
Fall Bird Count
Saturday, September 11, 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Join the annual tradition and help record the number of bird species and populations found in Fountain Creek Regional Park during fall migration. $5/person donation.
Homeschool Fridays: Awesome Arthropods
Friday, September 17, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Not “bugs”—arthropods! Learn about insects, spiders, and their relatives with a puppet show, arthropod activity, and guided hike to catch arthropods. Designed for grades K-2. $4 per person, 10 participants; participants can join with other homeschool groups. Prepaid registration required. $4 per person.
Girl Scout Badge Event
Saturday, September 18, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Daisies, Brownies and Juniors can register for fun sessions to meet badge requirements for these badges:

Creek Week Kickoff
Saturday, September 25, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Kickoff this annual week-long clean up event at Fountain Creek Nature Center! Bring your community group to meet “Stan the Can” and clean up waterways or remove invasive species. Register at www.fountaincreekweek.com for our cleanup or any other this week!
Active Adults: Gourd Art Workshop
Saturday, September 25, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Bring birds to your backyard with home-made bird houses crafted from gourds. Adults (ages 14+) will learn to create your own unique and beautiful gourd birdhouse. Each participant will bring home a finished piece from this hands-on workshop. Prepaid registration required. $18 per person, $15 per member.
