On September 7, 2018, the state system used to process all food assistance, Colorado Works, adult assistance, and medical assistance will be down the entire day to accommodate the update to a more modern system. PEAK and all corresponding phone and personal device applications will also be unavailable.

The Colorado Department of Human Services is updating the Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS). The update, expected to take three days, will impact services across the state.

All county human services staff will not have access to any case until Monday, September 10, 2018, when the system is expected to come back up, and therefore will only be able to provide limited services.

All food or cash assistance issued before September 7, 2018, will be available with EBT cards as that system is not being impacted. EBT card issuance will also be operative.

Some counties may be closed to allow for the transition. El Paso County locations will remain open, and will accept applications and documentation for case files. However, El Paso County staff will not be able to process applications or provide information on specific cases to clients until the CBMS system is restored following the update.

El Paso County lobby hours will be extended in the days leading up to the update. From Tuesday, September 4 through Thursday, September 6, the Department of Human Services main lobby at the Citizens Service Center will remain open until 6 p.m.
