January 22, 2025 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners seeks a community-minded and experienced mental health professional to voluntarily serve as a representative on the El Paso County Community Corrections Board. Applications for the open position are due by February 7, 2025.

The Community Corrections Board determines which offenders can safely be placed in the community, under what conditions an offender can participate in a program, and the standards by which a service provider must operate a facility. The board also monitors programs in the Fourth Judicial District, oversees compliance with state and local standards, and advises the El Paso County Board of Commissioners and the Fourth Judicial District Community Corrections Authority on other community corrections matters.

The Community Corrections Board is comprised of the following members or their representative: District Attorney, Sheriff, Chief Probation Officer, Manager of Parole Operations, Deputy State Public Defender, District Court Judge, El Paso County Court representative, Police Department representative, Teller County representative, a mental health representative, and six citizen-at-large representatives. All agency representatives serve indefinitely. The citizen-at-large positions are appointed to serve three-year terms.

The board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:15 pm, in person with a virtual option, at the Justice Services office, 17 N Spruce Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80905. Additionally, board members individually review and ballot on approximately 25 referred cases each week.

The Community Corrections Board seeks a mental health professional representative to provide expertise and insight into mental health challenges, effective interventions, and a comprehensive approach to offender rehabilitation and public safety.
