June 21, 2022 – Voters are urged to return their ballot early, before Primary Election Day, June 28. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office also strongly recommends voters to return their ballot at one of the 39 ballot drop-off locations. An important reminder to Unaffiliated voters, you may vote and return ONLY ONE ballot. If you vote and return both political parties’ ballots, neither will count.

“In 2016, voters approved Proposition 108. That change in Colorado law permits Unaffiliated voters to vote in Primary elections. While Unaffiliated voters receive both parties’ ballots, it is only permissible for them to vote and return either the Democratic or Republican ballot, not both,” said Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman. “We are fortunate in Colorado to vote by mail ballot where voters receive their ballot in advance of Election Day, have time to learn about candidates, make an informed decision, vote and return their ballot early.”

With only a week before Election Day, voters can easily return their ballot at one of 39 ballot drop-off locations within 15 minutes of 98.94% of voters, all with secure 24/7 surveillance. Ballots that are mailed back to the Clerk’s Office may not be received by the deadline of 7:00 p.m., on June 28. Ballots postmarked but not received by the deadline will not be counted.

Five Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC) are currently open and four more VSPC locations will be operating Monday, June 27, and Election Day, Tuesday, June 28, for a total of nine locations throughout El Paso County. A full list of all locations can be viewed here. Voters who need to get a replacement ballot, update their registration, register to vote, or vote in person on a paper ballot, may do so at any of the VSPCs.
